Woodside Station, Woodside Rd, Greytown

Ticket Information:

  • Free Admission

The Greytown Trails Trust will be celebrating the completion and opening of the second and final stage of the Greytown-Woodside Rail Trail (running from Cotter St in Greytown to Woodside Station), with the event timed to coincide with the arrival of the Sunday morning train from Wellington, so bring your cycle or come for a walk with us.

We will be holding our own ‘Tweed Run’, inviting you to don historic / vintage cycling attire for a fun day out. The idea came from Greytown local and former Londoner Len Cheeseman who can often be seen cycling round on his chic black Retrovelo. See www.tweedrun.com for ideas on these events, first staged in London in 2009. There will be prizes for best costumes. Dogs are welcome on a lead, in costume or au natural.

There will be refreshments for sale or bring your own picnic. Do come and join us in this celebration. For more information, watch for our posters in Wairarapa and Wellington, on Facebook or updates on this site.

Update: Mayor Adrienne Staples will be opening the Rail Trail for us - and she and Deputy mayor, Viv Napier will be judging the costumes (including best dressed dog) - so do dress up for the ocassion. There will be a sausage sizzle, chippy van and Mrs Whippy will be there - also we are hoping to organise a coffee cart - and maybe a lemonade stand. So come for lunch or bring a picnic.

To get there, drive down Woodside Rd towards the Station and it will be signposted just before the railway crossing. Plenty of parking in the station car park.
