The International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers will visit New Zealand for one, unprecedented public gathering.

They represent a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth, all Her inhabitants, all the children, and for the next seven generations to come. They come from the four directions and they speak all over the world because they are deeply concerned with the unprecedented destruction of our Mother Earth and the destruction of indigenous ways of life. The Grandmothers Council was prophesied in many of their cultures and they believe they were called to share the teachings of their ancestors to light our way through an uncertain future.

Formed in 2004, this group of courageous and audacious elders look to further their vision through the realization of projects that protect all our diverse cultures: lands, medicines, language and ceremonial ways of prayer, and through projects that educate and nurture our children. Each day they will hold several public prayer ceremonies and presentations, with a different elder offering prayer for the wellbeing of all, in the ways taught by each one's tradition and wisdom teachings.

There will be goods for sale related to the Grandmothers and their work. Food vendors will also be onsite to keep everyone nourished. Come be in the presence of these inspirational, spiritual women and experience the movement that is calling forth feminine wisdom and leadership all across our planet. The time is now.

The 13 Grandmothers' are gathering in honor of Maori Grandmothers' Ambassador Pauline Tangiora, at 'New Awakening - He Ohonga Hou' and this one-time, four-day Gisborne event is their only public activity in New Zealand.

Anyone interested in social justice, indigenous issues, ecological concerns, spirituality, women's issues or the future of humanity will be moved and amazed to be present with this inspired and inspiring council.
