Fairfield House, 48 Van Diemen St, Nelson

All Ages

Former Nelson resident Brett Holland returns to Fairfield House after touring extensively in the US. He was a featured player at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Conference and shared his Kiwi roots at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Brett's specialty is finger picking. Though made most famous by Chet Atkins, Brett has modernized the style blending it with harmonics, two handed slapping, walking bass lines, improvisations, odd timings, and open turnings.

Known in Nelson for fronting the Mister Nobody Band, freelancing and teaching he has spent the past few years developing the Art of Modern Acoustic Fingerstyle Guitar playing touring America, playing solo in theaters, festivals, churches, prisons and house concerts sharing his energetic and entertaining fingerpicking style. The modern approach sees him playing original instrumentals and interesting arrangements that are big on groove and strong on melody.

Brett will be sharing tunes from 2 albums recorded in Nashville last year, the solo acoustic "The Zone" and Songwriter material from" Point Of View". He was mentored and travelled extensively with Australian Virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel.
