Taupo Camera Club’s latest exhibition ‘Essential Plateau, Places and Faces of the Taupō Region’ – has taken its photographers on a journey of learning. There will be three different displays at the exhibition: fine art photographs focusing on Taupō district’s magnificent landscapes, a wall of informal photos of members of the community and photographs on a large screen showcasing general images of the district.

The work has been done by beginner, intermediate and expert photographers from the Taupō district. Each display has given Taupō Camera Club members the opportunity to learn many aspects of photography from the challenges of weather conditions to portrait and photojournalism photography.

Taupō Camera Club was formed in the 1950s with the aim of furthering interest in the art of photography and has been involved in creating photographs for various community projects such as the formation of the district’s time capsule in 1990, Ironman events, the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge and Waitangi Day celebrations.

Essential Plateau, Places and Faces of the Taupō Region has been made possible with the assistance of Taupō District Creative New Zealand Communities, Taupō Moana Rotary and Grabb.

Essential Plateau, Places and Faces of the Taupō Region will be on show in the Niven Room at Taupō Museum from November 2 to December 10. Taupō Museum is open seven days from 10am to 4.30pm. Entry is free to children and Taupō district residents with proof of address.
