Digital Art Live

Digital Art Live offers the opportunity for young digital and interactive artists to present their works. Emerging Pixels returns for a third edition to showcase the talents of the Bachelor of Creative Technologies students from AUT University's Colab: Creative Technologies programme.

Hungry Pixels by Taura J Greig
30 October to 17 December 2013

As you move your body in front of the screen, observe your silhouette becoming part of a virtual ecosystem. Life forms in the shape of pixels emerge to feed upon the shadows of your movement. However, like all things nothing lasts forever, once your silhouette disappears from the screen the virtual life forms will disintegrate.

Taura J Greig is a 3rd year Bachelor of Creative Technology students at AUT. From a strong interest in game design and development, his awareness and interest in digital interaction has expanded and broadened and he is now especially focus on interactive digital arts.

Finding Under Noise by Hubbub Studios
17 December 2013 to 19 February 2014

Finding Under Noise invites the audience to find the beauty in noise and change our perception of how we experience it. As noise is often understood to be a negative experience. A microphone is located in front of the interactive screen capturing all the sounds happening in the foyer e.g. people walking past, voice commands and clapping. Watch as these sounds are transformed into images on the screen and then have a new sense of the beauty of the noises around you.

Hubbub Studios is a collective of AUT students Martin Hill, Braeden Foster and Reuben Poharama. Initially formed with one project in mind, Hubbub Studios is now looking forward to creating exciting new works.
