This exhibition showcases the work of a talented group of brush calligraphy artists. Brush calligraphy originated in China and then later spread to Korea and Japan. In ancient times Chinese people carved characters on turtle shells or animal bones but now both Chinese and Korean artists use ink and paper. Experience the dramatic effect created by the contrast of the deep black inks on exquisite white rice paper. Calligraphy is displayed on scrolls, folding fans and as framed artworks. A catalogue gives a full explanation of the meaning of the symbols used.
