Due to the popular demand, the Glenbrook Vintage Railway are once again staging their Big Engine Weekend over this coming Auckland Anniversary Weekend (26th, 27th, & 28th January 2013)

This 3-day event will feature 2 of New Zealand's most Giant steam trains working together in tandem on a passenger train. Ja 1250 "Diana" from the Glenbrook Vintage Railway will be teamed up with her older sister - Ja 1240 "Jessica" and between them they will haul 5 return excursions over the 15km railway each day.

Each locomotive weighs 110 tons, and each produces 1200 HP, so this is truly a big boys toys event! So bring the family and experience this once in a lifetime event!

Free parking is available at Glenbrook Station, and entry is free to the site too. A feature of each train trip in the 15/20 minute stop at our heavy engineering workshop where passengers can tour and look at all the big machines and tools that are needed to keep these massive locomotives in operation, other special steam locomotives will be on display too.

This is a very affordable day out for the family, and a great experience for everyone! Don't miss your chance as this may be the last time that we run this event ever! Tell your friends, neighbours and workmates and make a day of it, we look forward to seeing you there!
