Worlds Apart is the result of artist Anneke Muijlwijk's two years of travel and artist-in-residencies in Portugal, Spain and the USA. The residencies provided space, time & resources to allow her to be totally immersed in art and also in totally different worlds. She was simultaneously one of the locals and a tourist, but most of all she was an observer.
Her work aims to communicate the different realities and dynamics of people engaged in topical issues. Socio-political and psychological relations to landscape and place are explored and issues of identity, environment and belonging are addressed.
Her drawings and paintings honour the diversity of human behaviour as well as depicting its commonalities across the world-a fascinating display.
