The Scholars Pro Musica under the expert direction of Chalium Poppy again have teamed a well-known piece with something quite obscure.
While Antonio Vivaldi is mainly known for his string orchestra works, especially the famous "Seasons", his vocal pieces are beautifully put together and tell us he knew a lot about the human voice.
His Gloria is particularly joyful and full of beautiful melodies.
This work is teamed with a work by the lesser known Antonio Bononcini that provides quite a large contrast. It is a composition of a meditative Latin poem about the pain of Mary, mother of Jesus, watching her son die on the cross.
This opus is full of interesting harmonies and surprises. It also is hauntingly beautiful.

For these works the Scholars Pro Musica will team up with the Animato String Quartet for the first time, a collaboration that will hopefully be repeated often for future endeavours.
