In this course you will explore the relationship between governments and the global narcotic trade. Discover how opium and heroin have impacted on countries like the United States of America, Russia, China, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Dubai, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, and learn about the current dilemmas facing anti-narcotic policy makers.

This course will appeal to people with an interest in recent history, global events, crime and narcotics, the murky world of intelligence services, and anyone who suspects that there is probably much more going on in the world than one hears about in the mainstream media.

- developed greater insight and new perspectives on global events
- considered the current dilemmas facing policy makers grappling with narcotics issues
- understood the extent of organised crime in the global economy
- gained an understanding of the history of the global opium and heroin trade
- gained some appreciation of how intelligence services operate
