Beginning in NZ, the WTCQD event will spread time zone by time zone across the globe through over 70 countries.

The annual event is officially recognised by the United Nations World Health Organisation and aims to promote and educate the world to the health benefits of practising tai chi and qigong.

The WTCQD event in Auckland will be organised by the NZ National Tai Chi Chuan Association Inc. The morning programme will include demonstrations and mass displays of tai chi and qigong by combined clubs and schools.

In the afternoon the NZ National Tai Chi Competition will be held and it is anticipated to attract entries from some of our top athletes in tai chi from all parts of NZ. Not so well known to the NZ public is that tai chi is a competitive sport and being a major part of wushu (Chinese martial arts) it is currently on the shortlist of sports for inclusion in the 2020 Olympics.

Spectator admission charge will be $2.00 pp. Children under 12 years old free admission.
