One of the most beautiful compositions and audience favourites the world over is Richard Strauss' 'Four Last Songs'. The romantic poems from the late 19th century reflect our feelings in spring and September, and 'on going to sleep'. No other composer has used a large orchestra with such overwhelming effect as Strauss when he closes his moving work with music history's most beautiful and glowing sunset. A strong message of hope and peace.
