The Nukes

The Nukes are New Zealand's "all original" ukulele band. Full of good humour and charm and a certain something that makes audiences tap their toes, grin from ear to ear and sometimes even shed the odd tear, this original New Zealand trio have quickly made a name for themselves, plucking up a storm wherever they go!

The Nukes appeared recently on the Good Morning show and at WOMAD, whilst earlier in the year they did some gigs in Melbourne and have toured NZ playing at schools and halls around the country - usually to full houses! They have appeared at festivals such as Splore, the Hamilton Garden Festival, the inaugural Coromandel Ukulele Festival and the Hawkes Bay and NZ Ukulele Festivals.

Did you know that the ukulele is back in fashion? It seems this little instrument is now quite the in thing around our schools but The Nukes are not just three guys "plonking" on ukuleles with the sort of "my dog's got fleas" sound that you might remember from your younger days.

The Nukes - David Parker (Titirangi Music Festival) on tenor uke; David (Snapper) Theile on banjolele; Ben Collier (drummer with Golden Horse) on ukulele - are at the forefront of an exciting and burgeoning ukulele revival, effortlessly knocking out APRA award-winning songs, combining their three individual songwriting styles into each unique tune, all original, all entertaining.

These guys really know how to create a strong musical performance and a buoyant live atmosphere all in one! This is a fun concert for all ages - the kids will love it - so will their grandparents!

Buy your tickets at Papakura Paper Power, Gt South Rd, Papakura - will also be limited door sales available on the day.
