WFS annual general meeting - about 30 minutes.

Followed by music video Monsters (Andrew Armitage | NZ | 2011) 3 minutes, then The Artists' Cinema (various | NZ | 2010-2011) 46 minutes.

Six short films commissioned by Mark Williams which bring artists work into the cinema in playful and subversive ways:
2.5 Kilometre Mono Action for Mirage (Alex Monteith NZ 2011, 4 mins)
Flux, balance, illusion. A moto-X rider (Mark Buxeda) pulls a continuous wheelie over 2.5 kilometres of coastline north of Muriwai. Photographed by Duncan Cole with sound by Jeffrey Holdaway.

Carmen Diego Out of Work and On the Run (Sean Grattan NZ/USA 2010, 10 mins)
A philosophical drama in which nothing dramatic takes place - a production that plugs wordy explanations of content into a cinematic form that looks like an action movie but sounds like a lecture.

Costume for a Mourner (Sriwhana Spong NZ 2010, 8 mins)
1920s Ballets Russe choreographer Sergei Diaghelev refused to let his dances be filmed claiming that film could not adequately capture the dance, 90 years later Sriwhana Sping took up the challenge.

Between Worlds (Philip Dadson NZ 2011, 11 mins)
A single boat prow navigates through a series of landscapes, charting the interconnectedness of time, people and space.

The Other Mother (Ronnie van Hout NZ 2011, 9 mins)
A one-man recreati of the blood-letting scene from John Carpenter’s The Thing.

Voodoo Dog (Gray Nicol NZ 2011, 5 mins)
Like a bad omen, the artist’s work begins to prefigure more serious real life events. “I’ve got to be a bit more careful with these sculptures.”

Introductions by Andrew Armitage and Mark Williams. Membership available at the door.
