You be the judge as live poets slam!
One of the most vital and energetic movements in poetry during the 1990s, ‘slam’ has revitalised spoken word performance among a new generation of poets the world over. Now it's Nelson’s turn. Slam Poetry will feature 10 local entrants, with special guests including comedian Penny Ashton and Daniel Allan. It will be hosted by Mark Raffills – himself a finalist in NZ’s inaugural Poetry Slam last year.
Poets will perform original work before an audience whose response gives the judges their cue – looking as much at the manner and enthusiasm of its performance as its content or style.
