Opotiki's Annual Silent Film extravaganza commences on Friday, September 14, with the finals of the Silent Film-Making competition.
Finalists 5-minute films will be screened each with a specially written live piano accompaniment. The evening begins with a short 'Hitchcock Masterclass' to see how one of Hollywood's legendary Director's made his mark in Silent Films.
Saturday's programme begins with Harold Lloyd's The Kid Brother a 1927 classic from one of the best in the business. This film screens in the Little Theatre at the De Luxe.
This year's 2 main features portray stories which have stood the test of time and the genre is one that the Silent era relished - Horror!
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) commences at 2.00pm and runs for 116 mins.
Each of the main films has live piano accompaniment from the pianist at the Bechstein Grand Piano.
The evening film is Phantom of the Opera (1925) which commences at 7.00pm and runs for 93 mins.
