ARANZ Wellington Branch invites you to the 2012 ARANZ Lecture - Scandal on screen: Film censorship past and present.

The lecture will give a background to censorship in New Zealand and the change in approach over the years. Kate Ward, Information and Policy Manager for the Office of Film and Literature Classification, will discuss the work of the censor’s office and how it has changed over time.

Shane Jackson, a preservation technician at Archives New Zealand, will introduce a video cornucopia of the curious clips that hit the viewing studio floor in the course of the Censor’s Office work and will explain how and why the censored clips are preserved.

Entrance: suggested koha of $5
