This relaxed rural festival takes place in the beautiful Moutere Valley. A late afternoon event featuring local artists and businesses together with music, entertainment, boutique breweries, local wineries, and wide choice of food.

In particular the focus is on the local blackcurrant industry featuring the healthy aspects of the wonderfood - the blackcurrant! We have a guest chef, scientists and growers all available on site.

Alongside this in 2012 we are featuring the emerging (and expanding) boutique cheese industry with award-winning Neudorf Cheeses and others from the area. Other local horticultural industries will have their stalls and information available.

Workshops in 2012 include cooking, stone carving, cheese making and self defence. There are photography and cooking competitions with Barker's amazing gift baskets as prizes - more details on our website.

The Sarau Festival is also host to two exciting cycle rides. The first - the Sujon Mountain Bike Race is run in conjunction with the Nelson Mountain Bike Club and crosses 26km of mixed horticultural and agricultural land, not otherwise open to the public. The Gentle Cycling ride is 12km and travels along roads and farm tracks, past hops, raspberries, grapes and blackcurrants. Registration forms are on the website.
