The Lions Club of Helensville would like to invite the Auckland Community to participate in an event taking place 3 days prior to St Valentines Day on the Kaipara River in Helensville.

Helensville Lions with the support of the Helensville District Business Association are planning the fourth fund-raising event designed to raise money for local community projects. We are hoping we will also raise the profile of our town throughout the greater Auckland region.

The Running of the Roses will take place on the Kaipara River. Entry to the race is by the purchase of a ticket - $5.00, which is accompanied by 2 roses, one to keep and one to go into the Running of the Roses. The roses will be released into the river on an outgoing tide, at the Kaipara Cruising Club. The first 6 roses retrieved from the river, at the Kaipara Dairy factory will win major prizes.

Festivities commence at 1pm at the River Reserve, Mill Rd, Helensville.

This year activities will include a fun run, waka races, kids' entertainment plus a twilight market featuring locally made crafts, produce, plants, collectables, Lions sausage sizzle, tea, coffee and food.

Kids' entertainment starts at 1pm
Fun run starts at 2pm from Springs Road
Market starts at 2pm and goes to 6pm
Roses released on the river at approx 3.45pm
Waka race times tbc
