About Vadim Simongauz
Vadim Simongauz joined the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra as the Section Principal timpanist at the beginning of the 2003 season. He has also served on the music department faculty at the Auckland University since 2004, where he coordinates timpani and conducting percussion ensemble.

Following a childhood in Moscow he moved to Tel Aviv, Israel at the age of 13 where he studied with Alon Bor and graduated with honors from the Tel Aviv Academy of Music. After winning the prestigious America-Israel scholarship created by Issac Stern, he got an opportunity for future studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen with professor Bent Lylloff and in the world renowned Cleveland Institute of Music upon direction of Paul Yancich.

Mr Simongauz's huge interest in orchestral playing led him to perform with many orchestras such as Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in Liverpool, The Cleveland Orchestra in Cleveland among others.

Vadim has also been a visiting professor of several universities, such as The Cleveland Institute of Music, Auckland University and the Tel Aviv Music Academy.
