Pedigree, domestic (moggies) and companion cats will be on display, all competing for the award of Supreme cat in show. There will be many different breeds exhibited from the giant long haired Maine Coones and Norwegian Forest Cats to the sleek and slinky short haired breeds such as the Siamese and Burmese and even a breed with no hair - the Sphynx!

Our judges are from America, Australia and around New Zealand.

What the judges are looking for:
• Pedigree cats – The NZ Cat Fancy set a breed standard for each breed. The objective of each breed standard is to describe as closely as possible the ideal structure or type of the particular breed of cat, and to describe its coat type and colour. The judges use these standards to ensure that all exhibits are judged fairly against a consistent standard. The cat, which in the judges opinion, most closely conforms to the standard will receive the highest placing.
• Companion cats – These are pedigree cats that are not able to be shown as pedigrees due to either not being registered or having a major fault that would disadvantage them. Part pedigrees are also shown as Companions. Companion cats are not judged to a breed standard. They are given points for their general physical condition, grooming and cleanliness, coat, temperament and appearance.
• Domestic cats (moggies or household pets) – Any cat can be entered in the show. There are no guidelines for judging Domestics, it is up to the individual judge. Generally health, physical condition, grooming, temperament and show presence are important factors.

The cats are awarded points that contribute towards both national awards and also their title points. The highest achievement that a cat can gain in NZ is the title of Gold Double Grand Champion.

There will also be stalls selling pet products and crafts and a cuddle corner run by the SPCA.
