Designer and artist Lindah Lepou presents a retrospective exhibition of works created over the past 17 years, as well as extraordinary new pieces for purchase.

Lepou is one of the New Zealand designers commissioned by Te Papa to create a wedding dress for Unveiled: 200 years of wedding fashion from the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Lepou’s spectacular gown was painstakingly constructed from tapa (bark cloth) and features an elaborate beaded headdress.

A highlight of the retrospective is Cocomono (2004). Based on a kimono, the work is made from varnished coconut rings.

Pacific Couture Unveiled is followed by wedding dance lessons with Heta Timu from 7pm to 8pm. Come alone or with a partner, and get ready to shimmy across the floor in style!

Held in the Wellington Foyer, Level 2.
