Opawa Farmers' Market, 275 Fifield Terrace, Christchurch Show map

All Ages

Ticket Information:

  • Free Admission

To celebrate their first birthday and the ubiquitous tomato, the Opawa Farmers’ Market is holding its inaugural ‘Tomato Fest’. In addition to the usual local fare, stallholders will be making delicious tomato creations especially for the day. There will be entertainment for the children with free face painting and cherry tomato & spoon races.

Tasty Tomatocompetition:
Also at the Tomato Fest - ‘Christchurch’s Tastiest Tomato’ competition. Enter your tomatoes in either the heaviest or the tastiest category. Guest judges Richard Till, Steve Wratten and Jan Mackenzie will have the honour of deciding the best flavour.

$2 per entry; proceeds going to The Southern Seed Exchange. If you enter the tastiest category, all the judges will need to have a taste... so if your tomato is large bring just one, bring 2 if they're average size, and about 6 if they're small cherry tomatoes. Registration 9.30am-10.15am followed by judging.

The Opawa Farmers’ Market runs from 9am-12noon every Sunday, 275 Fifield Terrace. For more details, see our Facebook page.
