The list of special piano and keyboard concerts being hosted at Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music this year has been given an extra bvoost with the addition of a special solo recital from Jian Liu.

Fresh from his triumphant concert tour through Chamber Music New Zealand, Jian will present just two works - but what works! They are: Robert Schumann's Carnaval and Franz Liszt's Sonata in b minor.

Jian is one of the applicants for the position of Lecturer in Piano at NZSM and this recital is part of that process. The Chinese-American Yale graduate has been teaching at NZSM since the beginning of 2010 on a two-year contract. Wellington audiences have enjoyed many opportunities to hear Jian over these months as he has regularly performed as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician at a host of NZSM's events.

Jian has joined Martin Riseley (violin) and Inbal Megiddo (cello) to form the Te Kōkī Trio. The chamber musicians have already performed in Christchurch, Dunedin and Auckland as well as Wellington, and are about to travel to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur to perform, teach and give overseas students the opportunity to audition for NZSM study.

Members of the public are welcome.

Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music is a joint enterprise of Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.
