Te Kōkī, the New Zealand School of Music is hosting Cellophonia II. This public concert is the culmination of a festival of cello playing, rehearsal, lessons and masterclasses. Some participants have undertaken a week-long course, while others are joining in for the weekend. We expect the ensemble to consist of more than 20 cellists.
Professional and amateur cellists will perform alongside guest performers/tutors Inbal Megiddo (NZSM Lecturer in Cello); Andrew Joyce (Principal Cello - NZSO); Ashley Brown (NZTrio) and Eliah Sakakushev (APO).
Special guest teacher/performer will be Shmuel Magen – Professor of cello, chamber music and cello pedagogy, and head of the strings department, in the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, Hebrew University.
Renowned for its sonorous and richly mellow sound, this is a wonderful opportunity to hear a rare combination of up to 20 cellos playing together in the special ambience of the Hunter Council Chamber at Victoria University, Wellington.
Online tickets are: Adults $10; Seniors/Students $5; NZSM Staff and Students free while tickets last.
Remaining tickets at the door: Adults $15, Seniors/Students $10; NZSM Staff and Students free.
