18 contestants will be competing for the ultimate prize of a trip to London, to play at three of the top jazz clubs there, and a write up in Jazz Journal International.
Day one: Each contestant plays one tune. Six are eliminated at the end of the day. The remaining twelve go through to the next day of heats.
Day two: Each contestant plays two tunes. Four are eliminated. The remaining eight go through to day three of heats.
Day three: The eight contestants play two tunes each. Five acts are eliminated and go through to the last round of heats. The remaining three contestants play three tunes each, then one contestant is eliminated. Two contestants remain.
The final two contestants perform at the International Jazz Festival Gala Night at the Regent on Broadway on Saturday, June 2. The grand finalist is announced after their performance that night.
