The Waikato Poultry and Pigeon Club is proud to host this year's national poultry and pigeon show.

Huge array of birds. For those who keep chooks, ducks or pigeons, for all the great reasons for doing so but not necessarily into breeding or showing, it will still be a great opportunity to see the array of poultry breeds/varieties we have here in NZ. It will also be a great way of finding out which breeds/varieties that appeal to you and which breeders are doing well and breeding to and achieving the standard beyond the scope of Trademe sellers, and just the boring brown commercial layers etc.

It’s going to be a great event, the largest chook, duck and pigeon show of the year, with nearly 2000 chooks, pigeons and ducks on display.

More than just NZ's biggest show. This year's nationals will be more than just a static show, it will have NZ's best poultry and pigeons but also, an interactive event with such activities/attractions planned listed below...

Guided tours
On the Saturday, led by our clubs' most experienced judges and breed experts, we will host 'tours' of the show for those that wish to learn more about specific breeds varieties: the birds' form, function, breed history etc.

Info workshops
Saturday afternoon, we will host a block of 3 chicken-specific, interactive workshops led by NZ experts, the 3 topics will cover:
- incubation and rearing;
- general chicken husbandry;
- colour breeding (how to achieve all the vast range of colours we have in chooks).

Family friendly
Under cover, in the middle of the school holidays it will be an attractive option for a day out with the family. To add to the already large amount of officially entered and exhibited birds, there will be others on display also:
- breeding trios (male and 2 females);
- freshly hatched chicks in brooder aquariums so that kids (and big kids) can gush over the cute fluff balls.

So there is going to be something there for all that like poultry (even if you’re young or young at heart), we plan on making it more than just a chook show, so we hope to see you there.

Held in the Hamilton Boys High School gymnasium.
