Premiere screening of 'The Way': Fundraiser for One Day School Nelson.

Worldwide the film has played to standing ovations and critical acclaim. It is the kind of film that does not come around often, extremely moving film but also totally entertaining and uplifting. The film has universal appeal (not only fathers and sons) but anyone searching for answers in their lives. Martin Sheen's own son Emilio Estevez wrote, directed, produced and stars in the film.

Sheen’s character, Tom, is a doctor living a comfortable life in California when his son is killed. He wants to deal with his grief by walking the Camino in honour of his son. Inexperienced as a tramper, Tom is soon joined by three others; an overweight Dutch man who is walking the route to lose weight in preparation for a wedding (so that his wife will desire him again); a Canadian woman fleeing an abusive husband; an Irish writer (James Nesbitt) who dreams of writing his novel but is suffering from writers block.

From the unexpected and often amusing events on the route this unlikely quartet of misfits create an everlasting bond begin to learn how to deal with their challenges and become a member of the world again.

Proceeds go to One Day School Nelson, an educational programme for exceptional children age 6-12. This school is one of only two designated for high ability children on the South Island. It is run by the Gifted Education Centre NZ which is a non profit charitable trust - as there is no government grant for the school we rely on fundraising and contribution.

Please come to our movie night, have fun and raise money for One Day School.
