This 9th annual Matariki gathering to celebrate the harvest and new year planting season has grown into a major winter festival attracting thousands.

There's a huge variety of ethnic foods on offer and kiwi kai such as steamed mussells, hangi, hot dogs and chips.

Entertainment features a whole range of multi-cultural artists from the region. There's the Beyonce "Move Your Body" dance contest for youngsters. Learn the routine from Youtube to win $50 phone top ups.

Take a free workshop. Learn to weave flax, carve soapstone or make a lantern on the night and join a wonderful lantern procession leading into a spectacular fireworks finale.

Free kiddies rides and games all night.

This event is funded by Ngati Kahungunu Iwi, Te Puni Kokiri, Creative Communities and Trust House with support from Toi Wairarapa (Creative Wairarapa) and Kahungunu ki Wairarapa..
