Mark Rae is a DJ, producer and songwriter extraordinaire. Mark has been DJing for over 20 years starting Fat City, Grand Central and Yesking Records a long the way.
Mark first caught the world's attention with the duo Rae and Christian. He has also released two solo albums and three DJ mix albums with Mixmag and the Another Late Night series. Currently Mark is close to completion on his next solo album as well as a new Rae & Christian album! The duo have been recording together again for the first time in ten years with their third album due for release later this year. Expect contributions from Veba, Kate Rogers, Tuung and Mark Foster (Foster the People).
Mark's DJ style is truly broad taking in all forms of music but crucially he knows how to read and rock a crowd and keep them there, a skill that doesn’t come pre packaged in a software programme.
When Mark first started out on his DJ career in 1986 he played at the beginnings of hip hop's golden era and went on to open shows for Big Daddy Kane, Ice T, Boogie Down Productions and Public Enemy. Mark then went on to play on the Rare Groove Soul circuit before absorbing the height of the Manchester scene and playing at the legendary Hacienda before setting up the highly revered shop Fat City Records. Mark went on to form Grand Central Records which dominated the UK and International Street Soul and hip hop scenes. Northern Sulphuric Soul by Rae and Christian is branded a seminal album in UK recording history.
With this wealth of experience and a great interest in all the new sub genres in dance music from UK funky to nu disco and all the forms of hip hop breaks and funk that constantly mutate expect a scintillating set which is never pre planned and is a one off dance floor experience every time!
