Mareea Vegas’ photography exhibition is part of the 2012 Auckland Festival of Photography. In 2011, Vegas beat 1350 entrants in the annual Auckland Photo Day competition with her image, Boy sees light. This photo was exhibited in France as part of an international exhibition.
For the upcoming exhibition, Vegas says “What has always been of interest to me is the frailty and fragility of the human juxtaposed with the rigidness, absoluteness and limitations of the urban geometrics we live within.”
Vegas studied at Auckland and Victoria University with qualifications in Visual Arts (Photography) and Music Performance. She spent many years as a professional musician, touring with Tim and Neil Finn, Brooke Fraser, Gin Wigmore, among others, before focusing full time on photography this year.
Human in Geometry, opens on Tuesday 5th June, and runs until Friday 29th June.
Opening: Tuesday 5th June 6pm
Thereafter weekdays 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-2pm, closed Sundays.
