Two criminals commit two very different crimes and end up sharing one tiny cell.

Jimmy King, the country’s youngest ever murderer, has been in and out of prison his whole life. Mau Vaiaga has only lived in New Zealand for five months and has already made himself Public Enemy Number One.

An unlikely friendship is struck up as these two men battle their way through the justice system.

Equal parts gripping, thought-provoking, and surprisingly funny, Manawa is written by and stars Jamie McCaskill, one of our foremost young playwrights and performers.

Manawa has been performed in Wellington and Auckland and has received 3 Chapman Tripp Theatre nominations for actor of the year, best director and best new NZ play.
