Te Hou Ora presents a breast feeding hui - Ūkaipō Hui Piripono. This hui is about educating Māori whānau on the best ways to look after new babies, mothers and breastfeeding.
The event has a traditional link to Matariki through our tikanga and whānau ora whakaaro. There will also be a traditional pit hāngī to represent whakawhanaungatanga celebrating the changing of season & gathering the whānau close in preparation for winter. Keeping us strong for the future times ahead.
The event has been organised by a collective of organisations in the community. Some of these include: Heha, Arai Te Uru Whare Hau Ora, Public Health South, Nga Kete Matouranga Pounamu, Tu Mai Ora, Runaka o Otakou Marae, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Ōtepoti, Mana Whenua Health Working Party, Southern District Health Board, Nga Kohanga Reo, Ngati Kai huirapa ki Puketeraki, The Donald Beasley Institute of Research - Kelly Tikao.
