Atamira Dance Company

New Zealand’s leading Maori contemporary dance company, Atamira Dance Company create works inspired by Aotearoa’s history, legends and contemporary issues; drawing from their own personal stories and whakapapa.

Kaha is a short works programme of dance celebrating the strength and pride of Maori contemporary dance, choreographed by members of the company.

Artistic Director Moss Patterson, presents two short works ‘Moko’ exploring the art of body tattoo, and ‘Koru’ inspired by the spiral design, as seen in Maori art. Taane Mete’s work is an exploration of the female form in relation to light, and Jack Gray is inspired by the Kamira manuscripts from his Mitimiti Whakapapa. Also a new high-vibe work choreographed by Kelly Nash, and completing the programme a full stage version of the popular dance Poi E, choreographed by Dolina Wehipeihana.
