The main purpose is to show our consolidation with Japan in their efforts to recover from this immense human tragedy by getting as many people together as possible (our goal is at least 2,000) to join hands on the day of the tsunami anniversary along the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway.

Funds raised will go to Save the Children Japan Charity which is helping the children victims and survivors of the tsunami which left:
*more than 20,000 people (including 378 children) dead
*158 children missing
*236 children orphaned
*40,000 houses and other buildings destroyed
*144,000 buildings damaged
*Over 100,000 children directly affected by the crisis through displacement, loss of access to education, loss of family members, and exposure to high levels of stress and anxiety
*7,232 schools and kindergartens damaged or destroyed

Outline of the event:
Participants are encouraged to gather from 11.30am at any of the access points along the walkway from behind the Richmond Estate apartments to East End Reserve. Joining of the hands will be at 12 noon.

Your contribution: All proceeds will go to the "Save the Children Japan" Tohoku Charity fund which is set up specifically to help the children survivors of the earthquake and tsunami double disaster on 11 March 2011.This is an opportunity for each one of us to help and to be seen to help, by…

Join the movement - we are encouraging others to start their own human chain to synchronise with ours at 11.3.2012 at noon and to video this with messages of support and send it into the above email address or upload onto our Facebook page. We will then send all these messages from all over NZ to Japan. Share the love! Share the support. Spread the word!
