You can be part of the world record breaking firewalking attempt. Walk over 2.5 meters of hot coals.

Eastbourne Scouts needs your help if we’re to achieve our aim of at least 1000 people taking turns to walk over a 2.5 metre-long bed of hot coals in Days Bay on April 28.

The current record of 350 people was set in Dunedin in 2004.

The day will be a lot of fun, with live music, food stalls and entertainment – and it’s for a very good cause.

Proceeds will go to expand a new school for displaced children in Kenya and to the Orphans of Nepal Trust – to learn more go to www.sotheycan.org and www.orphansofnepal.org.nz

To walk the fire there’s a small fee to help raise money for the two charities, just $20 for adults and $10 for those 14 – 17 years of age. We’re also encouraging entrants to seek sponsorship to raise additional funds.

There are 5 ways that you can help…
1) Register to walk the fire, make it a team or work event;
2) Donate to the charities;
3) Help us to get the word out there by liking us on our Facebook page;
4) Come along on the day to support friends and family who are walking the fire.

To do it you must register – the sooner the better. Remember to spread the word.
