Lumber and Mud - extreme jewellery

Friday 23rd March – Saturday 14th April 2012

Opening night: Thursday 22nd March 5.30 – 7.30pm

Wood and clay are common materials of little value in our throwaway society. Duncan Sargent and Mia Hamilton explore the need to value these everyday materials to sustain our futures. This exhibition is an exploration of what society attributes value to; precious jewellery is remade from lumber and mud.

Open studio: Mia Hamilton opens her studio doors and invites people to take a look at her working processes. You can visit Mia in her studio at Toi Poneke Art Centre on Friday 23rd March from 10.00am – 3.00pm.

Artist talk - 'Art, design, craft and my work': Duncan Sargent discusses his art practice in this free lunchtime talk on Thursday 12 April from 12.00 - 1.00pm at Toi Poneke Gallery.
