Melbourne-based photographer Kah Kit Yoong discusses his career in photography including his image ‘Dawn Stars’, taken in Paparoa national park, which was highly commended in the 2011 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Kit will explain why Paparoa tops his list of the most distinctive coastal locations in the world. He will show a selection of his images, including landscapes shot around the South Island, and tell the stories behind them.

CAMERA Expert Sessions are part of the CAMERA Season of Photography at Auckland Museum. Expert sessions are suitable for people 7 years and older.

The CAMERA Season of Photography opened at Auckland Museum on June 22 2012. This exhibition features the Wildlife Photographer of the Year alongside NZ-LIFE: New Zealand Geographic Award-winning Photography 2009-11.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the world’s most prestigious wildlife photography competition and is on show at Auckland Museum from 22 June to 26 August 2012. London’s Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife magazine has curated this exhibition of stunning images selected from more than 40,000 entries across 95 countries. This incredible collection of 108 photographs encapsulates both the beauty of the world we live in and the fragility of nature.

NZ–LIFE brings together the best of the New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year finalists from the past three years of this national competition. Spanning wildlife, landscape and culture, these photos transport the viewer around the country, providing a new vision of our environment and society. Showcasing the work of professionals and talented amateurs, NZ–LIFE brings the audience face-to-face with moments of spectacular beauty, joy and devastation.
