Thought you knew everything about bagpipes and pipe bands? Come and discover a whole new piping community, a very different sound and lots of traditions from another Celtic nation: Brittany.

'Bagad New Zealand' presents the first seminar about Celtic music from Brittany (Western province of France) in Wellington.

With special guest star Breton bombarde tutor Gwenael Lamour (Grade 1 player, former leader of the Bombarde Corp in the only professional band, and currently playing with Brittany’s Grade 1 champion band, Bagad Kemper).

Programme for the seminar:
- Introduction to Brittany, Bagad and bombarde;
- Live demonstration of different styles:
- Bagpipes GHB/bombarde duet;
- Bombarde/bombarde duet;
- Music workshop (on B flat tin whistle/practice chanter).

Note: make sure to bring a B flat tin whistle if you would like to practice the fingering and blowing exercises with the bombarde tutor on the day.
