It is with great pleasure that the Ashburton Society of Arts presents their 48th annual exhibition. With the recent earthquake in Christchurch we have already received a number of enquiries regarding entry forms from artists who have not exhibited with us previously. The annual exhibition features art works from local, national and guest artists with categories including: painting, applied art, craft and photography all of which are available for purchase.
Our guest artists this year include Anton van den Bergh, who is a well known painter from Timaru, Jackie Pearson, a watercolourist from Wellington, Jamie Porter from Christchurch, and Christine Lang from Rangiora. Christine has exhibited with us for a number of years and won the Ashburton Trust Premier Award in 2010. From Cornwall we have Rachel Hirabayashi who has had work exhibited in the Saffron Gallery and is well known throughout the South Island. Our final guest artist is our own John Achten, winner of the Rosebank Residential Home Local Award last year.
Complementing these painters with the Applied Art Section we present John Van Beek, Louise McRae, Fran Mcguire, Kim Henderson and Deb Fallowfield. We look forward to seeing you there— Lyndsay & Mandy
