Rising star of Australian fiction Charlotte Wood comes to New Zealand with her recent novel Animal People (2011).

Moving, funny and quintessentially Australian, Animal People takes place on a single Sydney day in the life of the hapless Stephen, a character from her bestselling family drama The Children (2007), who has decided to dump his smarter, wealthier girlfriend.

Wood is also the author of The Submerged Cathedral (2004), shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize, South East Asia and South Pacific Region, and the editor of Brothers and Sisters (2009), an anthology of short stories by leading Australian writers.

She writes a popular food blog and has just published a book of food writing, Love and Hunger (2012). With Stephanie Johnson in the chair.

Supported by the Australia Council for the Arts.
