AK Barok is a vibrant, Auckland-based baroque orchestra. Formed in 2004, AK Barok is the only orchestra performing baroque music on historic instruments in New Zealand.

AK Barok is passionate about providing audiences with the opportunity to experience the sounds that Bach, Vivaldi and their contemporaries intended to be heard. The instruments, in combination with the playing and musical approaches of the 18th century, create a very different feel and sound from a modern chamber orchestra.

This concert features the best known baroque piece of all time – Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with soloist Lara Hall. Lara’s vibrant playing is well known to New Zealand audiences and this is a rare opportunity to hear her perform on the baroque violin. The programme also includes works for string orchestra by Vivaldi and a cello concerto
by the Italian baroque composer Zani with soloist Emma Goodbehere.
