Summer Reading Programmes for children & teenagers aged 2 – 18 years. Three separate programmes as detailed below.

Registrations are being accepted now - fill out the form at your local library or go to the blog to download the PDF form.

SRP: for children aged 2 to Year 6 . Theme: Myths and Legends. The primary summer reading programme requires children to give a short (5 minutes) oral book report – basically telling the library staff about the story and what they thought of the book. Each report earns the child a small incentive gift. After they have done a minimum of 4 reports, they earn an invitation to the Finale Party, a certificate, medallion and free book. They can do up to 2 reports a week, and these can also be done by email if the child lives remotely or at other participating libraries along the East Coast if you’re going away.

SR Plus: for children in Year 7 and 8 and
Read Plus: for teens in Year 9 through Year 13

Registrations are being accepted now; fill out the form at your local library or download them from library blog.

Both SR+ and Read+ require children and teens to complete a written book report on each library book read. For every 3 book reports completed (with adequate effort), participants earn a free new book, up to a maximum of 6 free books. Special fun activities, like gaming evenings, are offered. Completion of the programme earns another free book & certificate.
