Israel in Egypt is a spectacular feast of epic choruses! Many of which are for double choirs singing antiphonally, which makes for stunning effect. The story of the Israelites is told from their oppression under the Egyptians, to freedom through the parting of the Red Sea with Moses. All the terrible plagues are set to music brilliantly from hailstones and fire lashing down, to frogs in the king's chambers and swarms of flies and locusts "in all their quarters"! As always we have an enviable line-up of exceptional soloists, a polished quire and a fine band featuring 3 trombones as well as trumpets and timpani. This is one of only a handful of works Handel wrote with trombones.

Soloists: Celia Aspey-Gordon, Jenna Johnson-Aufai, Richard Phillips, Chalium Poppy, Mark Simpson

Parking is available (free) from the Wilson car park opposite the church on St Benedict's Rd.
