This workshop is an opportunity for instrumentalists to say goodbye to winter by joining together and playing chamber music in pleasant and comfortable surroundings.

Each player will be organised into two groups where they play music selected from a range of classical and New Zealand composers. Players will spend Friday night, the entire Saturday and the Sunday morning rehearsing with their groups supervised by experienced tutors. Players will also participate in a massed orchestra and will perform in the gala concert on Sunday afternoon. If you have people with whom you would like to play, please let us know their names and instruments, and we will do our best to accommodate. Players who intend to participate in chamber music competitions are strongly encouraged to use this opportunity to enhance their skills.

String and wind players should be at a level of equivalent to Grade 5 or above.

Pianists: should be at a level of Grade 8 or above, have good sight-reading skill, be willing to prepare their set work before the workshop and ideally also play another orchestral instrument. To allow time to group players and issue score in advance for practice before the workshop, pianists should also email us promptly if they have particular chamber works they want to work on, and we can see if the requests can be satisfied.

Accommodation is available at the venue ($60 per night). Application forms are available at our website.

Completed application forms should be sent to:
