A public talk with Acharya Richard John. Hope and fear are the 2 poles of our obsession with the future. We are both frightened by the unknown and hopeful for our projections of what's possible.

But there is another possibility- In the openness of the present moment we could discover gentle confidence to face ourselves and our world without bias. This is known as the path of bravery or "warriorship" in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition.

The evening will include instruction in the sitting practice of meditation, a talk by the director and discussion. All are welcome.

Acharya Richard John: As an early student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Richard was appointed an Acharya by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. He has taught Shambhala Buddhist programs for many years in North America, Australia, Mexico, Chile and New Zealand. He completed the first three-year retreat at Gampo Abbey and now teaches full time. Richard and his wife Liz reside in Halifax, Canada.
