School of Contemporary Belly Dance, 176 Montreal Street, Christchurch Show map

Burlesque is the subtle art of the tease and titillation, and Christchurch is lucky to have international burlesque star Lili La Scala return to teach us this delectable art.

Lili La Scala recently performed to sellout audiences in the Pacific Blue Buskers Burlesque show as part of the World Buskers Festival in January, and this is the first opportunity to learn from this delightful star from the UK.

Lili La Scala is the stuff legends are made of, so let this little lady draw you in to her entrancing world. Originally from London, this diminutive songbird has been delighting audiences worldwide with her unique and quirky style of opera, burlesque and, her favourite, vintage song. A devotee of the vintage glamour-puss image, Lili is the epitome of pin-up girl chic with her doll-like figure and her flame coloured locks.

Lili La Scala began her career as a professional street performer. Although her home and heart are in London, where she is known as ‘The Songbird of Trafalgar Square’, her performances have carried her to all the corners of the globe. She is considered an asset at any festival at which she performs, rubbing off a little of her vintage glamour and filling the air with her songbird melodies.

She will be teaching two x 6 blocks on burlesque dance, covering walking, allure, frivolity and the all important tease.

Cost is $115 for a six week block, and you choose from a Tuesday or Wednesday evening.

Class size is limited, so email elysaah@gmail.com for more information or to book your place.

These sessions are sponsored by The Red Queens, http://www.theredquens.webs.com and the School of Contemporary Belly Dance, http://www.belly.co.nz.

Come and join in the fun!
