Constructed with natural materials collected from around New Zealand, the Mandala explores the concept behind the Buddhist circle of life and death. It represents spiritual enlightenment manifested as a pure world system and also shows the interconnectedness of life, the matrix of energies that shape our world and experiences, as well as the transitory nature of life and its ongoing cycles.

This is the second installation of the Imagine the Land Project by Karma Barnes & Ekarasa Doblanovica - a series of five works constructed in Australia and New Zealand over a three-week period.

There is also a public talk on 27 November at 1.00pm. Hear Kala Dostal, the Director of Amitabha Hospice in Auckland, give an insightful explanation on the Buddhist concepts of life and death. This will be followed by Imagine the Land Project artists Karma Barnes & Ekarasa Doblanovic, who will talk about the meaning of the artwork and selection and significance of the works materials.
