This event is a performance of harmony and skill, grace, incredible choreography, music, amazing costumes, Chinese kung-fu and special lighting effects. The graceful acrobats show no fear as they demonstrate astonishing acrobatic skills which will take your breath away. This is a spectacular and entertaining show to be enjoyed by all New Zealanders.

Troupe background:

There are 50 artists coming from Hebei province in China. As a national level troupe, they not only perform acrobatic shows but also share with Kiwis the famed art of Chinese kung -fu choreographed to instrumental music.

Hebei Acrobatics has a rich history spanning more than 2,000 years. Hebei Acrobatic Troupe was established in the 1970s and is a national-level professional acrobatic troupe. Over the years the Troupe has been developed to be a large-scale world famous acrobatic cast. Its main strength is with the troupe’s professional and youthful acrobats. The young acrobats benefit from the knowledge and experience of veteran acrobats, who assist the training of each new generation to the very high level required to be a top-quality acrobat. The troupe currently consists of more than 130 professional acrobatic artists and staff.

The Hebei Acrobatic Troupe has performed throughout China and on the international stage in over 60 countries. The troupe is a true ambassador in international cultural exchange. Their performances have won many prizes at contests in China and around the world.

Project background:
China Culture Development (NZ) Limited has been appointed by the Chinese authority as the sole contractor to deliver and oversee all aspects of this cultural exchange project in Auckland. This project was mandated by the Department of Culture and the Department of Publicity in Hebei Province, China. It has been approved by the Ministry of Culture in China to carry out a “Chinese Cultural Festival” with government supporting the commercial performances. Meanwhile, New Zealand community leaders such as members of parliament and the Cultural Counsellor of Chinese Consulate General have honoured us with encouragement and support for this project.

In summary we believe the key to the success of this event is the willingness and welcoming attitude emanating from both sides of the ocean.
