I am pleased to announce that I will be teaching tango classes in Mt Eden.

Anyone is welcome to the foundation classes, from fist time beginners to anyone wanting to work on technique and musicality. Intermediate will generally be about creatively applying the core competencies, maybe letting it rip a little… should be fun!

I put a big emphasis on the following in my classes:

1) Fun!
2) Music! I play a mix of traditional and modern tango and non tango, cos I reckon it's about dancing to whatever moves you. But first you have to hear the music…
3) Connection. I am especially interested in growing the connection between dancers, and the music and even the other couples on the floor. I am not attached to close or open embrace, as long as you keep the connection.
4) the 5 core competencies: This is an approach developed by Violet Saraza, who you may have seen in Wellington, and whom I have danced and studied with a lot recently. The emphasis is on building a strong core of connection, technique and movement principles that work for all of tango, be it a walk or some crazy showpiece of a move. For a sneak preview visit tangoforge.com.

Class times:
Thursday evenings August 11 to October 6th
7.00 - 8.00pm foundation
8.00 - 9.00 pm intermediate
Venue is the newly renovated Mt Eden Village center. Free parking, easy to get to and find, right in the heart of Mt Eden village, lots of cafes etc nearby.

I look forward to meeting you there soon!

Craig (Sooty) Love.
